YANGON, July 9 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar authorities have seized a large amount of stimulant tablets in two separate places in northeastern Shan state, according to a release of anti-drug police force on Tuesday.

The first seizure of 590,000 stimulants worth of 1.18 billion kyats ( 786,600 U.S. dollars) was made in Mabein township as the police force found a motorcycle, riden by two men, was abandoned on the roadside of a highway on Sunday.

Further search revealed that the stimulant tablets, packed with plastic bags, were hidden underneath some branches of a tree near the site of the motorcycle.

The second seizure of 164,445 stimulant tablets worth of 164.4 million kyats (109,600 U.S. dollars) along with some controlled chemicals used in producing drugs was made in another township of Monghsat late on Sunday when the security force was conducting clearance operation and the stimulants were discovered in a cave near the Meigyoke village.

Both of the two township police forces have filed charges against all suspects under the country's Anti-Narcotic Drugs and Psycho tropic Substances Law.
