RABAT, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- At least 19 people were killed and 16 others injured when two buildings collapsed in the city of Fes in Morocco Tuesday night, the country's state news agency said.
The first building collapsed gradually around 11:00 p.m. local time (2200 GMT) on Tuesday in the Al-Mustaqbal neighborhood in the suburbs of Fes, followed moments later by a second, adjacent four-story building.
Moroccan emergency services, police, fire and emergency personnel and disaster response force teams rushed to the scene soon after the accident to carry out rescue operations, according to local authorities.
The authorities added that the injured were transferred to hospital. ■
